Veronica Romero

Assistant Professor of Psychology, Colby College

I received my B.A. from Colby College in 2009 and my M.Ed. in Early childhood education while completing Teach for America in Washington, D.C. from George Mason University in 2011. Then I received my M.A. and Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from University of Cincinnati in 2014 and 2017 respectively. I received a pre-doctoral Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) by the National Institute of Health to complete my dissertation. After completing my doctorate I joined the faculty at the College of the Holy Cross as a visiting assistant professor from 2017 to 2019. In the fall of 2019 I joined the Psychology department at Colby College where I teach and research topics related to perception, action, and human-human interaction. In 2022-2023 I was one of the first Davis AI institute Faculty sabbatical fellows. I am currently key personnel in the “AI Research Institute on Interaction for AI Assistants (ARIA)”, as part of a National Science Foundation (NSF) funded grant (2025-2030). As part of this grant I will be focusing on furthering our understanding of trustworthy human-AI interaction. I am excited to start this journey into a new field of study with you all in the Summer Bridges Program.
