We bring leaders and innovators to campus each year for a public talk, a small-group discussion with instructors, and a small-group discussion with students. Our Distinguished AI Speakers bring extensive experience and insights to our community, often sharing surprising, unique, and transformative ways they navigate change and apply AI in their specific fields.

Jobs and Research

We’re looking for motivated student researchers to join our interdisciplinary team for the 2026–2027 academic year. We want students from all years and academic disciplines to help us bridge the gap between technical expertise and real-world innovation.

This position pays $15.60/hour and has an expected commitment of 5-6 hours per week during the academic year. 

What you’ll do:

  • Conduct research or build projects tailored to your own interests.
  • Engage the Colby community and beyond in vital discussions about AI.
  • Explore diverse topics like:
    • Deep Learning, NLP, and Computer Vision.
    • User experience and survey instruments.
    • Writing opinion pieces on the impact of AI on education and society.

AI Club

The AI Club is a peer network of support for AI-related research and development projects. The group meets weekly to connect, share updates, and discuss recent news. All levels of experience with AI and CS are welcome!

In fall 2025, the group met at 4pm on Wednesdays. Meetings will resume in the spring semester 2026. Please email us if you’d like more information or have a time conflict and want to be involved!

Conferences

Conference Funding

We are committed to fostering student scholarship and professional development. We are pleased to offer financial support of up to $1,500.00 per student to cover travel, registration fees, and accommodations for AI-related conferences or experiences.

Applications require a brief statement of interest, a faculty sponsor, a budget, and conference details.
